Sam Schneider is an artist based in Richmond, Virginia. Schneider obtained a BFA in Sculpture
with a minor in Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University. They have exhibited work in
several group shows throughout Richmond. They currently work in Exhibitions at the Virginia
Museum of Fine Art.


Schneider’s work engages with the history of perception through images, material culture,
simulacrum, and neutralizing the notion of singularity in the western art historical canon.
Their sculpture traces strings of images throughout history, creating surrealist worlds where
amalgamations of historical imagery and their contemporary derivatives exist in assemblage
based installations.
